Their story goes similar to some fairy-tale. "When Top Gun came out, my sisters were like, 'Oh, my God, Top Gun! Tom Cruise!' And I very confidently said, 'I'm going to marry him one day.' It wasn't like, 'How do I get to Tom Cruise?' It was just: 'I think I'm going to marry him. Why not? He'll like me. I'm fun.'" Is how Katie Holmes remembers it. Who knew that that uncanny utterance would someday be a very much reality.
The two met when Cruise’s agent called Holmes’s for a meeting for some job in April 2005. They immediately connected and were inseparable thereafter. Their first romantic date was aboard Cruise’s private jet for a ‘sushi dinner’ which was followed by a motorcycle ride along the beach. Tom proposed to Katie just two months after they started dating and presented her with a – five carat-oval diamond-rose gold and platinum – ring on the Eiffel Tower on June 17.
"I knew I wanted to marry Kate when I met her. After our very first date, I was sure. So I bought the ring shortly after that first date. At one point, I thought she was going to ask me to marry her first and I put her off by changing the subject. I wanted to ask her." Tom said.
Tom and Katie got married on November 18, 2006, in a Scientology Ceremony at Italy’s fairytale Odescalchi castle where the wedding was attended by many of the couple’s close celebrity friends including, Marc Antony and Jennifer Lopez, David and Victoria Beckham, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
The couple had a daughter, Suri, on April 18, 2006 and has, since beginning, worked to protect their love and family. They also contribute their best to function as a normal family and not only use their house for business but also devote family time for various activities like playing board games, having barbeques or having pool parties. Also they usually dine at the ‘Il Sole’ in Los Angeles and the ‘Nobu’ in New York and vacation mostly in the Maldives, France and Brazil.
Hollywood’s this favorite couple is also affectionately known as TomKat by the media and fans.
