The movie is based upon the background of the Bosnian Civil War in the 1990s. Angelina said that though the movie is specific to the Bosnian war, it's still universal. She further added that the movie tells a story of how human behavior and relationships are profoundly affected by living inside a war. The film would be starring Rade Serbedzija and Goran Kostic (In the Rain)and Zana Marjanovic (Snow).
Angelina has worked with an entirely localized cast, filming the movie in both English as well as Serbo-Croation, the language spoken at the time of the war. The English-language version will be released by FilmDistrict.
Angelina said that the cast was extraordinary and that she was honored and privileged to work with them. She further added that she was very exhilarated after seeing their talent. The film once again bonded Angelina with King, who was the producer of the thriller The Tourist, in which she was the leading actress opposite Johnny Depp. King said that he was extremely proud for working with Jolie on this movie. He also said that working with Jolie on this story and movie has been a great collaboration.
