Tangled is a Walt Disney Studios animated musical movie based on Brothers Grimm fairy tale Rapunzel. Originally the movie was titled Rapunzel, but later Walt Disney changed the movie's name to Tangled in order to represent both the main characters of the film - Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. The movie was released on November 24, 2010 and is directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard.
The movie is a tale of princess Rapunzel who was kidnapped when she was a baby by Gothel who uses her healing magical hair to keep herself young. Rapunzel is locked in a hidden tower and now as a young woman with 70 feet long magical golden hair, she wants to get out of the tower and see the world. She takes the help of the kingdom's most wanted and dashing bandit Flynn Rider whom she has taken hostage while he was running from the guards. She strikes a deal with him and together the duo set off for an action packed adventure. The movie features voices of Mandy Moore as Princess Rapunzel, Zanchary Levi as the famous bandit Flynn Rider and Donna Murphy as Mother Gothel.
The movie was released on Blue-ray and DVD on 29th March 2011 and features two alternate versions of the opening of the movie, three deleted scenes, a short behind the scenes documentary by Moore and Levi called Untangled: The making of fairy tale and a countdown of Walt Disney Studios 50 animated movies with Tangled being included as the 50th animated film.
The music of the movie has been composed by Academy award winner Alan Menken. The movie received two Golden Globe Award nominations- Best Original Song for “I See the Light” and Best Animated feature film. The song “I See the Light” also received a nomination at Oscars for Best Original Song.
