Jumping the broom is the story of Jason (Laz Alonso) who is a successful investment banker in the world of white men. He falls in love with a beautiful and wealthy girl Sabrina (Paula Patton). The two come from very different families and decide to get married after dating for few months. They decide to get married at a big, beautiful house in Martha’s Vineyard, owned by Sabrina’s rich family. The two families meet for the wedding which starts the clash to two different cultures providing lots of drama and comical moments as well as some touching family bonding moments and revelation of some shocking family secrets.
The movie received an average rating of 5.8/10 on rotten Tomatoes and 4.1/10 on IMDB. The film enjoyed the advantage of Mother’s day by attracting the audience for a fun Mother’s day weekend movie experience. The wedding-themed romantic comedy movie earned $15.3 million on its opening weekend (more than double its production costs) and was placed at number 3 on box-office. The movie mostly attracted female audiences and was applauded by the moviegoers. The comical characters keep the movie going and the cast is fun to watch and manage to bring laughter on the faces of the audiences.
