The second installment based on the last book of the same franchise has all the makings of a great movie, drama, action, emotional touches and yes, a happy ending.
Taking off from where the first part ends with Lord Voldemort securing the all important Elder Wand from Late Professor Dumbeldore’s grave, (unaware that it will be the end of him). Unlike the first part, this installment is fast and there is no story lag in the script; it just picks up and soon we find ourselves in the battle of Hogwarts which incites all the oo’s and the aaah’s, even the aww’s and occasional laughs.
For the avid fans of the series, the storyline of the movie does not waver too much from the book but that does not keep them from having emotional bouts as every scene unfolds. Even if they have read the books and can recite them verbatim, the experience of seeing all the imagined magic transpire on screen has an all together a different effect that cannot be mentioned in words.
Many a movie goers could not contain their emotions and were seen in tears especially during the scene where Harry goes through Professor (Headmaster in this movie) Snape’s memories in the pensieve, or where he understands that he must die and heads off to meet Voldemort. But there was happiness also, which was almost contagious. When the screen read ’19 Years Later’ there were laughs, and yeh’s and all other sounds that personified the happiness of movie goers as it was uncertain if the movie would contain the ‘epilogue’ part of the last book.
In the final moments of the movie, we can’t help but feel nostalgic as Harry and Genie accompany their children to the platform ‘nine and three quarters’ of Kings Cross station where we meet not only Ron and Hermione’ s family but also see Draco Malfoy. Seeing Harry Potter, whom we saw a decade earlier scrambling and confused as to how to get to platform ‘nine and three quarters’ consoling and advising his son (Albus Severus Potter) does engrave how long we have come in this fantasy journey. But all journeys must come to an end.
In the last moments the camera pans in on the three wizards, Harry, Ron and Hermione that we have seen grow from children to adults and have grown with them, and then it’s FADE OUT, forever.
