Daniel Craig takes a break from his James Bond image and stars in this upcoming movie, Cowboys and Aliens based on a novel by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley by the same name. The movie also stars Harrison ford, Olivia Wilde, Paul Dano, Walton Goggins, Keith Carradine, Adam Beach and will be released on July 29, 2011. Steven Spielberg is the executive producer of the movie.

Directed by Iron Man director Jon Favreau, the movie is set in 1870s and is about Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig) who has no memory of his past life and wears a puzzling shackle on his wrist. He goes to a desert town of Absolution where he finds that he is a wanted criminal and is also hated by the town ruler, an iron fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison ford). The town is attacked by aliens when an alien spaceship crashes on their land and the town’s only hope for survival is Jake. He slowly begins to remember who he is and with the help of Ella (Olivia Wilde) and Dolarhyde, he prepares to fight against the enemies for their survival.

Earlier Robert Downey Jr. was supposed to play the main lead but he dropped out and Daniel Craig was cast to play the role of Jake Lonergan. In 1997, there was a bidding war between 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney for the movie but Universal Studios and DreamWorks partnered and purchased the film rights. The new Cowboy and Aliens poster featuring Daniel Craig, Sam Rockwell, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde was spotted at the Cannes Film Festival 2011. With a great star cast (James Bond and Indiana Jones together), the movie is bound to be an amazing experience for moviegoers.
