The Cylons were created by the citizens of the Twelve Colonies. Intelligent robots, they were utilized as slaves and soldiers to battle humanity's wars. But the Cylons became sentient plus they rebelled. Man and machine fought with a bloody stalemate, and then Cylons withdrew to a remote region of space.
A truce between the Twelve Colonies and also the Cylons lasted for 40 tense and silent years. Each year, about the anniversary with the treaty-signing, humanity sent an envoy towards the neutral land of Armistice Station to convey with a Cylon envoy. For 39 years, no Cylon envoy came.Then, about the 40th anniversary, a sensational blonde - a Cylon in human form - met the human envoy.
In one devastating day, billions of human lives had been consumed by nuclear fire. Those souls fortunate enough to come aboard starships had been in a position to band together and flee to the deep space, led through the sole survives Colonial warship, the Battlestar Galactica.
The Galactica and its particular crew appeared to be unlikely rescuers for humanity's less than 50,000 desperate survivors. The ship was old and had been planning to be decommissioned and turned into a museum once the Cylon attack occurred. In the aftermath its commanding officer William Adama, finds himself in charge of safeguarding the final remnants of the people.
Meanwhile, the annihilation of the Colonial government on Caprica resulted in the string of events leading Laura Roslin, the Secretary of Education, for presidency. Driven by prophetic ideas and political need, she set the fleet upon a quest which will go on to the farthest reaches of unexplored space in search of the mythical, lost "13th colony".
